USING WEB 2.0 TOOLS TO TEACH 21ST CENTURY SKILLS
This online course is designed to help educators apply the current trends, research, and best practices for supporting instruction with appropriate application of recent and innovative educational technologies – specifically Web 2.0 tools. For both experienced professionals and newcomers interested in incorporating the latest Internet technology into existing curricular units to help students achieve their educational standards and objectives. During this course, educators will develop effective teaching methods and instructional strategies that capitalize on students’ interest in Web 2.0 technologies and use that familiarity to improve students’ acquisition of 21st Century skills. Course content will emphasize student relevant in today’s classroom environments. This course addresses the challenge of developing interdisciplinary, active learning experiences that increase technology literacy of students through the use of Web 2.0 tools. Educators will evaluate and analyze current relevant research, and create projects demonstrating conceptual understanding of infusing Web 2.0 technology into the classroom. This course is organized around fifteen content modules. In the content modules there are educational objectives, course content, required readings, learning activities, class discussions, sharing and reflections, technology projects, assessments, and the integration of Web 2.0 activities into the classroom to specifically address 21st Century skills.
