This online course is designed to better understand the concept of mindfulness and how it benefits emotional well-being of both teachers and students, the content of this course is relevant to most standards relating to adult professional learning, health and well-being, classroom management, social and emotional learning including developing student interpersonal skills. The teacher will be working to implement the course material into his/her own life and classroom, thus meeting the “Learning Forward Standards for Professional Learning.” In turn, the students will be directly impacted by the deliberate choices and modifications the teacher makes, hence helping the students to meet the standards of “PA Academic Standards for Student Interpersonal Skills.” This course does require a text: Mindfulness for Teachers by Patricia Jennings (ISBN 978-0393708073).
