CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE, GENERAL CHILD ABUSE, & NEGLECT OF CHILDREN
This online course is designed to prevent child sexual abuse. It will assist educators in recognizing student behaviors resulting from predatory pedophile threats, as well as physical abuse and neglect in their lives. The class will conduct forensic reviews of cases involving pedophiles, review warning signs of sexual abuse in children, and delve into the psychological torment inflicted on victims and how that torment is then transferred into the school setting. It will provide techniques and resources for supporting the traumatized child within the school setting. The course will also review criteria for mandated reporters when addressing issues of general child abuse and neglect; however, at the present time, this course does not replace the mandated 3-hour training required by Section 1205.6 of the Public School Code of 1949.
The following book (approx. $15 on Amazon) is required for use with this class. “Predators: Pedophiles, Rapists, & Other Sex Offenders. Who They Are, How They Operate, and How We Can Protect Ourselves and Our Children.” Salter, Anna Ph.D. (2003). New York, NYC: Basic Books. ISBN# 0-465-07173-2
