Building 21st Century Learners through Web-Based Learning for the Elementary Teacher
This online course will begin to show teachers how they can reach students far beyond just giving them knowledge, as well as ways to increase student engagement, create data-driven instruction, and individualize instruction. They will also see the “big picture” as it relates to technology including digital citizenship, foundation skills, ISTE standards, and STEM. 21st Century Learning is a term that educators are buzzing about. Many teachers have heard of this term but are not sure where to even begin as it relates to these skills. The world of technology is vast and is growing. It is our job to begin to prepare students for a world that is unknown to them. When we begin to give them the skills necessary to be successful, we can begin to prepare them for their future. This course will narrow the 21st Century skills into eleven units. This course will take educators through the journey of what a 21st Century elementary classroom should look like. Teachers will learn the background, be introduced to the latest trends, and be given time to explore web-based applications. This course is a must for all elementary teachers looking to expand their classroom beyond the traditional methods.
